Office furniture is the single biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions over the lifetime of a commercial building.

Bywater are committed to understanding and improving the carbon footprint of the built environment throughout the lifecycle of a building. Furniture and fit our cannot be ignored in that. We have established a strategic partnership with Rype Office, pioneers in bringing circular economy thinking to the often wasteful process of periodic tenant fit out. Working with Rype Office we have developed a series of ‘furniture packs’ for occupiers using part remanufactured furniture diverted from landfill and part carefully sourced new products chose for their sustainability.

Introducing Rype Office

Rype Office care that climate change and waste are ruining the planet.
So Rype Office did something about it.

First Rype Office joined the circular economy to remanufacture office furniture, saving clients money while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and waste by 80%.

Recognising that remanufacturing is only dealing with some of society’s waste, Rype Office then created exciting furniture designs using materials like post-consumer waste plastic.

Creating UK jobs did not feel like enough, so we pushed for more social value. In 2016 Rype Office did our first project with a team of eight local long term unemployed with disabilities. They did a great job, with the project winning seven national and international awards. Rype Office have continued this approach on projects longer than 3 months in duration (to provide a meaningful period of work) in regional areas around Great Britain.

Remanufacturing Furniture

Rype Office remanufacture brand name office furniture back to as-new condition and create our own sustainable furniture ranges from waste materials. Rype Office create significant cost savings with no compromise on quality.

Remanufacturing is a quality-controlled engineering process that takes the durable elements of an office furniture item (such as steel frames), checks and refurbishes them, and then rebuilds the item around them.

The result looks and performs as new, but at a significant cost saving, both economically and environmentally.

Fitout Finance

If you wish to work with our furniture package for your fit out but want alternative to carrying the upfront cost, we have teamed up with fitout finance specialists WestWon to offer alternative solutions.

WestWon can support with financing of furniture but also any additional fitout you may require beyond the scope of this document.

They can offer flexible terms from 2 to 5 years spreading the cost of fit out which may have cashflow and accounting benefits for you.
